Sewage Removal & Cleanup in Grand Rapids, Kalamazoo, Lansing, and Ann Arbor
Camelot provides emergency sewage removal for homes and businesses after a backup, whether it came from a clogged drain, an overflowing toilet or tub, or a failed sump pump. Sewage is not clean water, and it leaves bacteria in the flooring, drywall, and insulation it reaches, so these jobs take more than drying.
Our crews remove sewage and standing water, clean and disinfect every affected area, and dry the structure with commercial air movers and dehumidifiers to help keep mold, rot, and warped materials from following.
Camelot Will Clean, Disinfect, and Dry Everything the Sewage Touched
We get the sewage and standing water out of your home. Then, we clean and disinfect the floors, walls, and everything else it touched until the space is safe to use again. We’ll also give you a record of the damage, with photos and moisture readings of every affected area, ready for your insurance claim.
We’ll give you a dry structure too. Commercial air movers and dehumidifiers dry the flooring, drywall, and insulation the sewage reached, and moisture meters show when the materials are dry. That’s what helps keep mold, rot, and warped materials from following a backup.

Sewage Removal FAQs
How quickly can Camelot respond to a water emergency?
Our phones are answered live 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. For emergencies, we can often be on-site within about an hour, depending on your location and conditions, and start extraction right away.
Do I need a plumber or Camelot for a sewage backup?
Usually both. A plumber clears the clog or repairs the line that caused the backup. Camelot removes the sewage, cleans and disinfects everything it touched, and dries the structure. We don’t repair drains or sewer lines, so call both, and stop flushing and running water until the line is clear.
Will you work with my insurance company?
Yes. We document the damage with photos and moisture readings, talk with your adjuster during the job, and can bill your insurance company directly.
Can water damage lead to mold?
Yes. Mold can start growing within 24 to 48 hours when moisture stays trapped in building materials. Quick water removal and thorough drying with air movers and dehumidifiers greatly reduce that risk, and we apply antimicrobial treatment where needed.
Is it safe to clean up sewage myself?
We don’t recommend it. Raw sewage can carry bacteria, viruses, and other contaminants, and it soaks into flooring, drywall, and insulation. Keep people and pets out of the area and call Camelot.
What causes sewage to back up into a home?
Most backups come from clogged drains, broken pipes, sewer line problems, or plumbing overflows. Wherever it starts, the water is contaminated, so cleanup means disinfecting, not just drying.
How do you find hidden water behind walls or under floors?
We use moisture meters, thermal imaging cameras, and probes to find water in wall cavities, subfloors, and ceilings. Those areas become part of the drying plan.
